Cumbria Clerking Advisory Service (CCAS) offers governors from all schools, whether they are primary, secondary, academy, or special, the opportunity to access advice and training through this service. In order for governors to access the training programme, schools will be required to sign up to Cumbria Clerking Advisory Service for the academic year. Schools, consortium's, or clusters may request a training course for their individual benefit in house. The charge applied for this service is £250. The fee covers the preparation and facilitation of the two hour course, and a training pack for each governor containing the relevant materials for the course. For schools within a consortium, the fee will be divisible between the school making the booking and the other schools attending the training course. The training course subject may be generic, or tailored to the requirements of the school or consortium. The course subject, venue, and session time will be confirmed at booking. Training can be delivered at a time most suitable to the requirements of the governing body concerned. Feedback from governors who attended CCAS training indicated that they would prefer to receive in house training, rather than travel to venues around the county. They stated that a higher attendance rate of governors occurred when training was facilitated in school. The provision of the advisory service, which is accessible by telephone and e-mail, is available Monday – Thursday 09.00 – 16.30 with an answerphone in operation when out of the office. Schools who have not signed up to the service will not be able to access advice, guidance, or training. No anonymous calls will be accepted. CCAS look forward to working with your governors, providing a valuable service to enable governing bodies and schools become outstanding, thus ensuring the children of Cumbria receive the education they deserve
